Well it’s Friday again and damn is it a cold one or what? Let’s jump right into it, shall we? First off, let’s start with some post-Sandy updates. First and foremost, there has been some news about South Ferry that has come out recently and unfortunately, it doesn’t look good. The MTA is projecting a three-year closure of the new station because of the severity of the damage sustained from the surging salt water. I hope that timetable can be improved, but it doesn’t look good. Secondly, while this doesn’t affect the weekend service, the weekday service for the H Rockaways shuttle will change starting Monday. Instead of service ending after midnight each night, that will only happen on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Mondays, service will begin between 4 & 4:30 AM and end around 9:30 PM. Tuesdays through Thursdays, service will begin around 5 AM. Trains will stop running the same time as it will on Mondays.
With that out of the way, let’s get to this weekend’s disruptions. Highlighting the service changes for the week are the lack of 5 train service at all, no 7 trains running west of Queensboro Plaza and the shutdown of the Livonia line again. And that’s not even half of the disruptions. Queens-bound F trains are running express in Brooklyn and via 53rd Street in Manhattan. There are no G trains running south of Hoyt-Schermerhorn. Bronx-bound 4 trains are running express between 125 St and Burnside Av. The map below has all the details, as well as some service changes not listed above.
