Good evening. I know I’ve said this before, but if there was a weekend where these maps are incredibly useful, this is that weekend. In fact, the next three weekends will get progressively worst. You will want to download the service map before heading out on weekends for the rest of the month.
Where should I start? First off, 6th Avenue service is completely suspended, thus causing serious reroutes on the D and F trains in Manhattan and Brooklyn. In both directions, D trains will run via the A-line between Columbus Circle and Jay St, then via the F-line through Coney Island. Also in a bidirectional reroute, F trains are running on the Q line from Lexington Av through DeKalb Av and then via the D-line between DeKalb Av and Coney Island. In a nut shell, D and F service is swapped in Brooklyn with some creative ways to get there from Manhattan. For those interested, shuttle buses are providing connections between W 4 Street and either Grand St or East Broadway. Also, M train service is extended to Chambers St all weekend, including overnight hours to provide more service between the Jamaica lines and the major transfer point at Canal St.
Of course, that isn’t the only major service change in place this weekend. Once again, 4 trains are not running to Brooklyn, which means 5 train service is cut back to Grand Central. On the other end of the 5-line, shuttle buses replace trains between E 180 Street and Dyre Av. Also, due to the aforementioned D/F switch, N trains will run via the R-line in both directions between Prince St and 59 Street in Brooklyn. Finally, be mindful of the express-only segments in place, especially on Queens Blvd, where all service to Forest Hills and Jamaica run express through Parsons Blvd.
Enjoy the weekend.
