Labor Day Weekend 2014

Good afternoon everyone. Since it is a holiday weekend, construction-related reroutes are kept to a minimum. However, there are still disruptions and suspensions in place though. 5-train service is suspended between E 180 St and Dyre Av. There is a reduction in 6-train service north of 3 Av because of work between Hunts Point Av and Parkchester. The last major disruption is on the E-line, which is running split service in Queens. Direct service between Queens and Manhattan will run to/from 179 St while shuttle train service runs between Jamaica Center and Kew Gardens.

Other service changes include the usual F via 53rd Street (Manhattan-bound this time), 2 and 3 trains running local between 96 St and Times Square, and local-only service in the downtown direction for the A and D lines north of Columbus Circle. In a bit of good news, this weekend marks the end of the Greenpoint tubes closure. Starting Tuesday morning, G-train service will once again run the full route between Court Sq and Church Av.

The map has the details. Since some of these disruptions last through Tuesday, check the time-stamps. If there is no specified time, assume the service change is in place between Saturday and Monday only.

Enjoy the extended weekend folks.

Weekend of Aug. 23rd

Good afternoon everyone. This weekend will be a light one in terms of service disruptions. Most lines will maintain normal service. That is not to say it will be easy going for everyone. There are several service changes in place along the Broadway line. N train service is split with no service between Queensboro Plaza and Lexington Av. Q trains are not running north of Times Square and the R trains are running via 63rd Street, making F-line stops.

Besides the 60th Street tube closure, we have a few other service changes in effect. It’ll once again be slow-going along Queens Blvd as all service is local. Coney Island-bound D trains run via the N-line from 36 St to Stillwell Av. Finally, we have a one-day disruption that has uptown A and C trains running via the Rutgers tubes.

There’s also an express run on the uptown 6 between Hunts Point Av and Parkchester and because of that, some uptown trains are terminating at 3 Av. That’s pretty much it, so check out the map for the details. Enjoy the weekend.

Weekend of Aug. 16th

Good evening everyone. It’s another busy weekend on the rails. 1 train service is suspended north of 96 St. Shuttle buses are running along Broadway and St. Nicholas Av as a replacement. In a bit of good news, the 5 is finally running into Manhattan again after so many weekends of shuttle-only service. The bad news, however, is that the line is being truncated to E 180 St northbound. Wrapping up the service suspensions, there are no A trains running to/from Lefferts Blvd. Trains instead run to Howard Beach. On the subject of rerouted trains, downtown F trains are running via 53rd Street, and uptown trains run via the Cranberry tubes.

There are also several instances of express and local runs scattered about. The conga line once again heads to Queens Blvd as both E and F trains run local in both directions. On the 6-line, downtown trains are running express through Parkchester while uptown trains bypass local stops between Hunts Point Av and Parkchester. Downtown A and D trains are running local along Central Park West. Finally, uptown C trains are running express from Canal St to Columbus Circle to allow for the aforementioned F reroute.

Weekend of Aug. 9th

Hello everyone. This weekend, we have a few service changes that are only in effect on Saturday, rather than the entire weekend. Included in that, 5 train service is suspended south of East 180 Street, while 2 train service is split at 149 St with trains from 241 St running express between E 180 St and 3 Av. Manhattan-bound 6 trains run express between Pelham Bay Park and Parkchester. Finally, as part of the one-day only service changes, uptown 4 and 6 trains are bypassing local stops between Union Square and Grand Central.

Moving along to the service disruptions that will be in place all weekend, Brooklyn-bound A and C trains run via the Rutgers tubes, while downtown A and D trains run local along Central Park West. Downtown F trains run via the E-line between Roosevelt Av and 5 Av. Finally, we’ve got a couple of express runs on the Manhattan-bound 7 trains and downtown E trains.

That’s pretty much it folks. Click on the link for the map for full details. Enjoy the weekend.

Weekend of Aug. 2nd

Good afternoon everyone. Well, would you look at that; the summer is about halfway over. We’re already in August. Time is flying by. Anyhow, let’s take a look at what’s going on this weekend on the subway. Work on the Greenpoint tubes continues, but we all knew that. That’ll wrap up early next month. We’ve also got the seemingly never-ending work on the White Plains Rd line in the Bronx. It’s actually the last full weekend for the split 2 services and the lack of 5-train service south of E 180 St. Wrapping up the usual suspects of service disruptions, once again, everything is local on Queens Blvd.

There are a few other service changes in place, like the suspension of the Franklin Avenue shuttle, one-directional reroutes of the F via 53rd Street and the Cranberry tubes, as well as a few express runs scattered about. The map has all of the details. Click on the link for it. As always, enjoy the weekend.
