Weekend of Nov. 1st

This weekend is light in terms of service disruptions, mainly due to the Marathon on Sunday. However, there are a couple of major suspensions in effect. There is once again no 1 train service north of 96 St. The shuttle buses are running their regular routes. Secondly, the 5 isn’t running between E 180 St and Dyre Av, but at this rate, it’d be easier to report that the 5 is running along Dyre Avenue than not.

Other major reroutes include the D and N change up in Brooklyn and Queens-bound F trains running on the C-line. The usual array of express runs are in place as well. The map has the details. The link is below. Enjoy the weekend and Happy Halloween.

Weekend of Oct. 25th

Well it’s another weekend that has a few major service disruptions. Work continues from last week on several lines. Service is once again suspended on the Flushing line west of Queensboro Plaza. The Sea Beach/West End flip-flop is back in place this weekend as well. On the subject of line suspensions, the Brighton line is also shut down from Prospect Park to Stillwell Av. Also, in a somewhat rare suspension, there is no Staten Island Railway service between Tompkinsville and St. George. Oh, and by the way, the 5 is not running north of E 180 St, but that’s nothing new.

In terms of reroutes, uptown A and C trains are running via the Rutgers St tubes, while Manhattan-bound F trains run on the E-line between Roosevelt Av and Rockefeller Center. There are a few minor express runs, mainly in the same locations they’ve been in over the past few weeks. The map has the details. Click on the link below.

Weekend of Oct. 18th

Good evening folks. Well, we’re back and just in time it seems. This weekend marks the beginning of a consecutive five weekend shutdown of the 7-line west of Queensboro Plaza. The Q will be extended to Ditmars Blvd to help out. There are a few other suspensions in place as well. There’s no 5 trains running between E 180 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse. G trains are not running south of Hoyt-Schermerhorn Sts, while service will be split at Bedford-Nostrand Avs.

There are also several reroutes throughout the subway as well. The D and N will be flipped in Brooklyn. Coney Island-bound trains run via Sea Beach while Manhattan-bound ones run over the West End line. All service is also local in Brooklyn. Manhattan-bound F trains are running via the E-line between Roosevelt Av and Rockefeller Center.

The usual slew of express and local runs are scattered about. The map has the details on that. Finally, in a bit of good news, M train service is extended to Chambers St during the days and evening hours.

Weekend of Oct. 11th

Good afternoon. I’m well aware I’m a bit late in posting this, but I have a reason. My external hard drive, which is where I stored my weekly maps, among many other things, crapped out yesterday. That means I didn’t have a map ready for this week’s service changes. In fact, I still don’t have one for this weekend, so I’ll describe as best I can this weekend’s disruptions.

There are a few service outages. First, per usual, the 5 isn’t running north of East 180 Street, but that’s nothing new. The recurring closure of the Broadway IRT is back, but instead of there being no service north of 96 St on the 1-line, uptown service terminates at City College. Buses run in the usual three sections (242 St to 207 St A-line, 191 St to 168 St and 168 St to 137 St). Another major shutdown is on the A-line on the Lefferts branch. This weekend marks the start of station renovations at 88 St and 104 St, Brooklyn-bound, so shuttle buses will replace direct train service between 80 St and Lefferts Blvd. The final service outage is on the J and M lines. M service is back to running only along Myrtle Av while J train service is split with no service between Essex St and Hewes St.

There are also a few diversions in place as well. The main one affects the E-line. E trains are running on the F-line between Roosevelt Av and W 4 Street in both directions. Speaking of the E, both it and the F trains are running local along Queens Blvd. Be mindful of the express runs on the 6, 7, C and D lines, along with the 2 & 3 in Brooklyn.

Here’s where I’d tell you to check out the map for the details, but alas, that’s not an option this week. I should have one available for next weekend’s service changes. I just have to strip down a map I posted here and start from there and I wish I had time to do that now so I wouldn’t have to post all of this word vomit. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Weekend of Oct. 4th

Good afternoon folks. Let’s take a look at what’s going on this weekend on the subway. We have a few returning service changes as well as a couple of ones we haven’t seen in a while. First off, I hope no one got spoiled by having the 5 running to Dyre Av last weekend, because it’s not running there this weekend. Also, it will be another slow ride on  Queens Blvd with all service running local. Speaking of local runs, Inwood-bound A trains are running local throughout all of Manhattan.

Wrapping this up, we have a few express runs in place as well. Brooklyn-bound C trains are bypassing local stops between 145 St and 59 St, while Bronx-bound D trains run express between 145 St and Tremont Av. There are a few more on the Jamaica elevated, the Crosstown Culver Viaduct and the Flushing lines.
