Weekend of Feb. 28th

As we approach the end of another month, we have to deal with a few service suspensions this weekend. First off, work from last week continues on the Lexington Ave line. 4 trains are running local only to the Brooklyn Bridge, while 5 trains are cut back to Grand Central. Speaking of the 5-line, service on the Dyre Ave line is also suspended and replaced by shuttle buses. The other service suspension in place is on the Flushing line west of 74 Street/Roosevelt Av. Two shuttle bus routes will run in Queens to replace the 7 trains, split at Queensboro Plaza, while additional E trains will also run for quick service between Manhattan and Queens.

Other service changes include bi-directional local service on the D-line on 6th Avenue and Coney Island-bound D trains being rerouted over the Sea Beach N-line.

Weekend of Feb. 21st

Hello folks. This week we have a proper mess on the rails. First off, the Joralemon tubes, which carry the 4 trains between Manhattan and Brooklyn, are closed off this weekend. That means there will be no 4 trains running past the Brooklyn Bridge. Also, 5 trains will not be running south of Grand Central. Overnights, 3 train service will be extended to Brooklyn to compensate. Secondly, we have a not-FASTRACK at Coney Island. I say “not-FASTRACK” because while it’s not listed as a FASTRACK service change, it follows the same service plan in place for the previous ones. There’s also another weekend where Lefferts Blvd-bound A trains are being replaced by shuttle buses. Finally, this is the final weekend in which L trains are not running between Union Square and 8th Ave. This time, I’m sure.

In terms of other service changes, the usual 8th Ave one-way express run gets a twist. Instead of having all three lines run on the same track, bypassing the local stops, C-trains will run via 6th Ave between Jay St and 59 St-Columbus Circle. Speaking of express runs, there are some in place along the Queens Blvd, Culver and Brighton lines.

Check out the map, linked below, for the details. Enjoy the weekend.

Weekend of Feb. 14th

Good afternoon everyone. As with last weekend, there were originally several more service changes in place this weekend that were cancelled due to weather. At this rate, we’ll be dealing with these postponed service disruptions well into the Spring.

With that said, we do have to contend with a couple of major disruptions. Once again, L trains are not running between 8th Ave and Union Square. At least that work wraps up this weekend. There is also the suspension of D train service between Herald Square and Atlantic Av. You may want to keep that in mind if you’re heading to the Barclays Center. Finally, shuttle buses will replace trains between Queensboro Plaza and Ditmars Blvd.

Please note that some of these service changes are in place through Tuesday to take advantage of the extended weekend. As always, the map has all of the details you need to plot your trip.

Updated Map

Enjoy the weekend, even if it will be brutally cold again.

SATURDAY EDIT: The Brooklyn section of the split D service has been extended to Whitehall St in Lower Manhattan. N trains are still running local in Brooklyn though. The link for the map has been updated. Also, there was an error in my part regarding the 14th Street line closures. They are still scheduled for next weekend as well.

Weekend of Feb. 7th

Good afternoon folks. If everything goes according to plan and the MTA doesn’t cancel half of these service changes because of inclement weather, this will be another moderately annoying weekend on the rails. Like it was last Saturday, the Lenox Ave line will be closed off. 2 train service will be split with shuttle buses running between 96 St and 3 Av-149 St. The 3 line will be completely suspended with shuttle buses and the 4 trains replacing normal service.

Another major service change in place on the Lefferts Blvd/Rockaways line. Service between Rockaway Blvd and Lefferts Blvd will be replaced by shuttle buses. This is to prepare for station renovations at Rockaway Blvd, which begin this weekend. Speaking of which, Lefferts Blvd and Rockaways-bound A trains will continue to bypass Rockaway Blvd until the summer.

We also have to contend with the usual service changes. like the ongoing suspension of the L-line between Union Square and 8 Av. Again, Coney Island-bound D trains are running via the Sea Beach N-line, while Queens-bound F trains are rerouted via 53rd St. There are also several express runs in place, mainly along the Culver and Queens Blvd lines.

As always, check out the map for the details.
